If enacted, the Hunger-Free Communities Act will commit Congress and the President to cut U.S. hunger in half by 2010 and eliminate it by 2015.
The Act ensures that federal nutrition programs have proper funding and maintains the nature of these programs, which include food stamps and school meal programs. Congress will also be required to report its progress annually. Additionally, the Act will encourage the government to provide grants for anti-hunger organizations.
