If
you have been invited to apply for funding, access
MAZON’s grant application materials.
First-time applicants, or organizations that have
not applied for a MAZON grant during the last
12-month period, should follow our two-step grant
application process:
Step 1: Find Out If You Are Eligible
To understand our grantmaking strategy, follow the links below to our eligibility assessment page. The results will help you make an informed decision about whether or not to submit an inquiry. This step just takes a minute.
Domestic Organizations International Organizations
Step 2: Letter of Inquiry
After carefully reviewing our funding
guidelines, organizations interested in applying
to MAZON for funding must submit a letter of inquiry,
which can be sent electronically by completing
our online Letter
of Inquiry.*
The letter of inquiry must describe the agency
and/or the project for which funding is sought.
In recognition of MAZON’s commitment to
supporting anti-hunger work that extends beyond
the direct provision of food, we ask that you
dedicate at least one paragraph of your letter
to describing the organization’s current
anti-hunger advocacy and education efforts.
* Organizations also have the option of submitting
a 1-2 page letter of inquiry via regular mail.
This letter should appear on your organization’s
letterhead, and should be addressed to the Grants Department at MAZON’s Los
Angeles office.
Submission windows for the Letter of Inquiry are:
- September 1-November 1 for the Spring Grant Cycle
- March 1-May 1 for the Fall Grant Cycle
MAZON will contact organizations regarding the status of their letter of inquiry by December 31 (for spring) or June 30 (for fall). Organizations that have been invited to apply will receive information on how to access MAZON’s online grant application. Organizations that do not receive an invitation to submit a full application will also be notified.
Please do not telephone regarding the status of
your letter.
Step 3: Grant Application
MAZON’s online grant application can only be accessed by organizations we feel best match our funding criteria and grantmaking priorities. Additionally, prior to applying, interested organizations must submit a Letter of Inquiry that is then selected by MAZON for further consideration.
Organizations invited to apply for a MAZON grant will receive notification, along with a password to access online application materials. If you have been invited to apply, but have misplaced your password or organization ID number, email us as soon as possible. (Please note: application passwords change from cycle to cycle.)
Organizations that have been invited to apply for a grant and that require a hardcopy of the application materials should contact us with their request.
Application postmark deadlines are:
- January 15 for the Spring Grant Cycle
- July 15 for the Fall Grant Cycle
Organizations are eligible to apply for and/or receive only one grant every 12 months.
Please note: MAZON is unable to accept unsolicited applications or those that do not follow our application format. The volume of proposals we receive far exceeds our ability to fund, and an invitation to apply is not an indication of future success. Requests from past grantees are evaluated in relation to other requests received. Renewed funding is not automatic.
