 | Passover 2009 Materials During Passover, MAZON asks rabbis, cantors, and synagogue social action committees to encourage their congregants to help fight hunger. By donating to MAZON what they would have spent to invite one additional person to their seder table, these individuals and their families can fulfill the ancient Passover tradition of allowing “all who are hungry to enter and eat.” |
MAZON provides participating synagogues with a camera-ready ad, a sample letter from the rabbi (encouraging congregants’ participation), a “thank-you” letter from MAZON and contribution envelopes.
Envelopes are available in any quantity you desire approximately 2 months prior to Passover. Please contact us by phone or by fax, and we’ll be certain to get them to you in a timely manner. Or order now by emailing us
A Synagogue Guide for Partnering With MAZON
The Symbolic Guest
Congregants will deepen the meaning of the holiday by donating to MAZON what they would have spent to invite one additional person to their Seder table. Their donation will enhance and amplify the ancient Passover tradition of providing food for people who are hungry by symbolically inviting “all who are hungry” to “enter and eat.”
How You Can Help
Distribute MAZON Donation Envelopes
• Distribute envelopes at holiday services and programs.
• Include an envelope in every Haggadah at the community Seder.
• Ask congregational clubs (Sisterhood, Men’s Club, Youth Group…etc) to include an envelope at every place setting for their Seders.
• Encourage the religious school to send home one envelope with each student.
• Have extra envelopes available throughout the synagogue, and encourage synagogue members to include the envelopes at their personal Seders or send a thank-you tribute to their Seder host.
Use MAZON’s CameraReady Material
• Include the camera-ready ad in newsletters and e-newsletters.
• Create photocopies and post around the synagogue.
• Ask the religious school to duplicate it for distribution to all religious school families.
• Have copies at all programs leading up to Passover.
Please note: The Passover materials described here are available as downloads from our website beginning two months prior to the Passover holiday.
